Hi there, my name is Carl and I am an DIY game designer.
I have a thing for making small / pamphlet sized games, that are usually offered for free. Why is that?
- I embrace the approach of shared culture and independence. Everything becomes (unquestionably) commercialized. People grow into the concept, that financial success will validate you and your work and I reject that.
- I like having my games accessible at all times. The games should be printable with little effort, free from financial stigmatization, not having to rely on printruns and such. My games are in print as long as you have ink in your printer.
- Efficiency. I like to make games that encourages people to use the products they already own and that works particularly well with simple systems. Get that Adventure Module from your dusty shelve, especially at a time when the prices of physical products may increase severely. We don't need to hoard even more shit.
- This is not my livelihood. If you have money to spare you certainly may donate and I am grateful, but keep in mind that I don't need it to survive or to feel successful.
Peace out.
